Until recently, these were the house cocktail here at Silver Screen Suppers Towers. I had quite a few of these over the festive season before the Bourbon ran out. They are so good, they make you go a bit berserk. Two maximum I would suggest.
I’ve worked out the perfect way of making them chez moi. I have a fab cocktail measure that always makes me laugh as the BIG end is for “friends” and the LITTLE end is for “relations”.
So here’s a note to self and anyone else who has a similar measure: one friends and one relations measure of Bourbon, one relations measure of apricot brandy. Ice in the cocktail shaker and a little twist of lemon in the glass. Or if you prefer the official measurements:

Re cocktails v. mixed drinks:
I think the definition of a cocktail is any drink with at least two kinds of alcohol. One kind of booze plus other stuff is a mixed drink. Marlene wasn’t wrong. And you know she was probably a shot drinker.
I’m going to make this at home this week-end. Weirdly I happen to have some apricot brandy on hand.
