In her brilliant book Postitive Moves

Angela Lansbury gives women of a certain age lots of excellent advice on living a healthy, vibrant life.

As I AM a woman of a certain age, I decided to follow her life plan for a day.

I lived my life like Angela Lansbury and loved every minute.

I ate like Angela…

I exercised like Angela…

and I relaxed like Angela.

It was heaven and here’s how it all panned out.

First, I did a big grocery order so that I had all the things Angie likes to eat in my flat, making her Garden Vegetable Soup, her Power Loaf and some Oatmeal Cookies in advance.

Breakfast was a large glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice

and 1/4 of a cantaloupe and a banana

at 11am I had my “elevenses” of a kiwi fruit

My lunch was a bowl of Angela’s soup (which is delicious) and a slice of her Power Loaf with some feta.

At 4pm I had a cup of tea and a Vincent Price Oatmeal Lace Cookie.

At 5pm I embarked on the thing I had REALLY been looking forward to, following along with Angela’s Positive Moves DVD.

People, this is genius. Unlike the Jane Fonda Workout, I CAN DO ALMOST EVERY MOVE IN THIS ROUTINE. Plus there is a wonderful section at the end where Angela encourages us all to do a bit of freeform dancing.

I have no idea what anyone would have thought of me prancing around my living room like Isadora Duncan but I LOVED IT.

For my din-dins I had the sliced tomato and basil salad,

a piece of grilled chicken, some asparagus and brussels sprouts,

and that very trad British pudding, jammy bread.

I relaxed for a while in a candlelit bath (I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS IN 10 YEARS OF LIVING IN MY FLAT)

and then settled down to watch Who Threw the Barbitals in Mrs Fletcher’s Chowder in my jim-jams.

I want these pyjamas

What an utterly fabulous day!

This blog post is part of the Adoring Angela Lansbury Blogathon which was organised by Realweegiemidget Reviews and what fun it has been!

I felt like a million dollars!

I pledged to write about the Murder, She Wrote episode, Who Threw the Barbitals in Mrs. Fletcher’s Chowder. But this post has turned out to be about living life like Angela Lansbury, but I hope that is OK with you all, dear readers. I plan to live my life like Angela Lansbury on a regular basis, if it keeps me looking as good as she does I am IN.

Who Threw the Barbitals in Mrs. Fletcher’s Chowder is brilliant of course, as are all Murder, She Wrote episodes. If you are as into food as I am, you will love it. The best thing about this episode apart from the food? We find out that Jessica Fletcher fancies Paul Newman.

Well, who wouldn’t?

OK, I am going to make an announcement now.

My follow-up to the Cooking With Columbo cookbook

is going to be a Murder, She Wrote cookbook.

Oh yes, you read it here first. But my chums, there were 69 episodes of Columbo and there are 264 episodes of Murder, She Wrote – no kidding!

It’s going to take some time….

Embarking with enthusiasm
Getting close to completion

So how about we have a cookalong in the meantime?
