Book Test Cook 11 – Barbara Stanwyck’s Spanish Style Steak

Barbara’s steak was good.  Food writer guru Richard Ehrlich agrees with me that her recipe for Leg of Lamb is utterly bonkers.  So I’m dropping the lamb and giving the steak a double thumbs up.  I might give her Chicken Mousse recipe a go too, just in case that is a contender.

There has been much Ottolenghi action since payday when I bought “Jerusalem”.  Oh my goodness what a book.  Everything in it looks utterly divine and I’m cooking my way through it.

I really loved Pan-fried Mackerel with Beetroot and Orange Salsa but my photo of it was rotten.

Mr Shoulder came round for dinner one night and I made Chicken with Caramalised Onion and Cardamon Rice but forgot to take a photo.  I did however get one of the Baby Spinach Salad with Dates & Almonds:

On Thursday night I went to Cathy’s for dinner.  We were supposed to be “doing an Ottolenghi” together but as usual, Cathy did all the work.

Set Yoghurt Pudding

And this morning I had a Saturday singleton’s brunch of Shakshuka:

ARG – DELICIOUS!  Every single thing has been a taste sensation.  Mm.  Favourite thing so far?  The Set Yoghurt Pudding that Cathy made.  If Barbara came round for dinner I would definitely make this for her…  Knockout!
