Farrah Fawcett’s Pedigreed Sausages and Peppers

If you mention Charlie’s Angels to any woman of my age, it’s highly likely that they will start talking about Farrah Fawcett’s hair. Long before the Jennifer Aniston hairdo craze, there was a time when 95% of women wanted to look like Farrah. I am only slightly exaggerating.

I have photo booth pictures of myself, taken at the end of Walton-on-the-Naze pier when I was on the church choir day trip, with my hair done in an approximation of Farrah’s.  My curling tongs were working overtime in the late 1970s and I did think myself rather fancy.  I’m going to try and find one of those photos and will post it here when I do.  Until then, imagine a slightly less polished version of this.

Watching the series now as a grown-up, I’m totally obsessed with the outfits. Pantsuits!  Tunics!  Silky blouses! Cream-coloured ladies’ three-piece suits! If you like 1970s fashion (which I do), you’ll be itching to get on eBay as soon as the show is over to search for vintage jeans with patchwork pockets and name necklaces.

I have wasted quite a lot of time trying to find one of these pendants I spotted on eBay for less than $100 plus $60 postage to the UK…  It’s not happening and I fear $160 for this would be a flight of fancy, especially if it got lost in the post.

The closest I have got to it is this T-shirt

and making this recipe from Farrah’s kitchen.

This dish is featured in my most recent book Cooking The Detectives where I write about the fabulousness of Charlie’s Angels and many other cop shows besides.

There’s a Jaclyn Smith recipe in the book and a Cheryl Ladd dish too. Nothing in the collection for Kate Jackson alas, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled…

Let me know if you try this one out, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  1. This is similar to a recipe I have made, which is also delicious. The main exception is that it calls for cubed potatoes in addition to the peppers and sausage.

Also, I love 70’s fashion and will absolutely check out Charlie’s Angels! I love the hair too!

    1. Oh yes, A! Do give Charlie’s Angels a whirl. You need to watch it with a pinch of salt, though – 70s attitudes! But the fashion is truly spectacular. I think Farrah’s recipe would be ace with the addition of cubed potatoes, yum, yum.
