Gary Cooper’s Buttermilk Griddlecakes

It is pancake day and that means tomorrow is the beginning of Lent.  This year I have decided to give up MEN for Lent.  40 days and 40 nights without men.  Do you think I can do it?  I think I can.  To be honest, although it may seem from this blog as though I spend a lot of time hanging about with men, the fact of the matter is that I don’t.  I spend a lot of time THINKING about hanging about with men and that’s the problem.

I feel like throwing my phone in the canal.  I am tired of being like Bridget Jones and endlessly checking it.  Today I got nothing but the following two text messages.  One from T-mobile offering me their latest game download thing.  The other was from 118 118.  Did you know that you can text QUESTIONS to 118 118 and they will text you back an answer?  Someone told me the other night in the pub and I sent a text asking when hula hoops were invented and they sent back a very thorough answer.  118 118 were offering to answer a question for free so I decided to ask a more complex question, “How comes the men I want to call me never call me?”  Ha ha!

Enough of all this nonsense.  To paraphrase Pam Houston, “what would I do with all that space in my head if I stopped thinking about men?”…  I am just about to find out.
