Martin Landau Straight Up Martini

Remember when I said a few blog posts back that everyone looks good in a cowboy hat?  Well here’s another bit of evidence if you need it…

and plus…

my word!

I absolutely love it when a reader of my blog or a recipient of my newsletter gets in touch.  So I want to say a big public thank you Carole Ann Rice – life coach extraordinaire – who responded to my attempt to live life like Jane Fonda with an email that simply said:

“Cat Balou – now ya talkin!”

which of course sent me on an eBay search, a subsequent purchase and a perfect DVD for a spinster’s Friday night in.

As mentioned previously on this blog, cowboys are my weakness, but I also have a lot of fondness for cowgirls.  So yeehaw and giddy-up Jane!

A Martini Landau and a Jane Fonda movie on a Friday night, what could be better?

I think I do have some pimento stuffed olives somewhere in my fridge, but it is PACKED and the black olives were handy so I used those.  I don’t think Martin would mind…

Martin Landau Straight Up Martini

2 oz good quality vodka, 1/2 oz or splash of vermouth, 2 pimiento stuffed olives or lemon twists. Chill martini glasses in freezer. Pour vodka into cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake until very cold, (at least 10 seconds). Pour vermouth into cocktail glass, swirl and dump out. Strain martini into chilled glass. Serve straight up (no ice in the glass) garnished with 2 olives on a cocktail pick or with a twist of lemon peel.
