For all you Peter Falk fans, I thought I would gather together photos of all of his favourite recipes in one post. All these recipes are featured in the Cooking With Columbo book.
and I have a few copies here at Silver Screen Suppers Towers in London which I’m happy to send to you directly if you prefer buying directly from the author rather than via Amazon. I will sign it with my new fountain pen if you like! Just get in touch via the Contact Page if you’d like a signed copy.
Otherwise you can order the book from your local bookshop, borrow it from your local library or get it directly from Amazon.
The book contains episode guides for all 69 Columbo shows plus a recipe appropriate for each one – either one of Peter’s favourites, or something from the kitchen of one of his co-stars. You’ll find the signature dishes of Janet Leigh, William Shatner, Dick Van Dyke, Johnny Cash, and many more in the book. The foreword has been written by the Columbo expert Columbophile, who runs this amazing resource for all things Columbo.
For now though, here are all of Peter’s fave recipes that I know of. If anyone knows of any more, please do let me know!
The recipe that features on the cover of the book is Peter Falk’s Pumpkin Lasagne and I made a video demonstrating this one! I look so young! Pre-pandemic!
Of all Peter’s recipes, this one is my favourite – Pork Chops With Vinegar Peppers
His recipe for Spare Ribs Chinatown Style is gooooooood!
If you are a “can’t cook, won’t cook” type the way PF likes his avocado served might suit you!
His Veal Scallopini and White Wine recipe was so good it featured as a recipe of the month way back in 2015.
So those are the 5 of Peter’s favourites that I know of. Columbo fans however, will remember that we see the Lieutenant cooking Veal Scallopini in Murder Under Glass. I watched that sequence many, many times and included a recipe for the way Columbo makes it in the book. There’s also an interpretation of the omelette we see him make in the episode Murder By The Book.
Columbo cook certainly cook, and so could Peter Falk! Happy birthday Peter!
The book just arrived. I ordered it as a birthday gift (October 4) for my daughter. That hasn’t stopped me from thumbing through it and making plans!
Haha, oh how fabulous Patricia! I do hope that your daughter enjoys the book, and that she won’t mind you pinching it back when you want to cook something from it! Jxx
