Four years ago today my Columbo cookbook was put out into the world.
Writing this was so much fun and it has brought me huge joy ever since. The thing that makes me most happy is knowing that people all around the world are cooking from it. For example, Missy Tassels in Sheffield had a whole Columbo meal, making four recipes from the book.
I don’t think a photo has ever given me as much joy as this one. The post-its!
So this little blog post is just to say, THANK YOU to everyone who has bought a copy of the book. Please do drop me a line if you cook one of the recipes as it makes me insanely happy.
When I pressed the PUBLISH button on Amazon my personal goal was to see if I could sell 100 copies. In four years I have sold over 3,500. My heart is bursting with pride and whenever I am having a rough day, I read one of the nice reviews readers have left on the Amazon page. Even just seeing those five yellow stars gives me a huge boost.
The best thing for me about writing this here blog and my books, is when readers get in touch and give me a glimpse into their lives, wherever they are in the world. So the most wonderful thing about Missy Tassels emailing me is that I was led to her genius renditions of Columbo facts and quotes from the show. Here’s a link to her site where you will find lots of this creative wonderment.
Missy Tassels – please will you put all of these in a book? I have just spent about 1/2 an hour scanning through your blog and chuckling away to myself at them. I think this one is my favourite, for obvious foodie reasons…
Do you want to know how many raisins Columbo puts in this sandwich? I watched the sandwich making scene It’s All In The Game many times and counted them for the book. That’s dedication for you! The answer is, approximately…
I made one too of course, with exactly 45 raisins.
I had forgotten all about this combination until just now. Raisins are going on the shopping list right now…
So, just one more thing…
If you are thinking about writing a book, whatever kind of book, I say this. DO IT. Once it is out in the universe you will make all kinds of connections, you will make people happy, you will have something physical to hold in your hand that you have made…
Books are ace. Sending lots of love to all you Columbo fans xxx
Fantastic!
Four years !! Oh good gravy, where does the time go ? Happy birthday to my favourite Columbo cookbook ! I could probably fill my bath several times over with all the Chasen’s chili I’ve cooked since then !
Hahah, that does paint a good picture, Mark! For our Heinz 57 project Mr R wants to recreate the Roger Daltry in a bath of baked beans photo! Jx
Has to be done !! But I’d recommend cheating a little and using the cheapest own brand store beans rather then expensive Heinz stuff, unless Mr R’s is able to source them [yes, deliberate pun ] for free ! Then you just have the problem of how to get rid of a bath full of beans!!
I am LMAO – hadn’t thought about the aftermath!
I have just recently purchased this cookbook. It’s ADORABLE. My husband and I are indeed Columbophiles. We watch at least one episode EVERY Sunday. I am making the Chasen’s chili recipe today to have tomorrow and I will be making the pumpkin lasagne before Thanksgiving is here.
Awww, this has made my day! So glad you are enjoying the book – I’d love to see pix of what you make – if you drop me a quick line via the Contact Page I can then connect with you on email – happy cooking! Jenny x
