This month’s challenge over at the Daring Kitchen was edible containers. Oh those clever people really did make some amazing things. My favourite was onion soup served in a carved out onion – genius! I did something quite easy but absolutely brilliant (even if I do say so myself)! I made little stand up cups by rolling up tortillas and baking them. Then I filled them with the current favourite Silver Screen Suppers recipe: Cowboy Caviar. I served them at last week’s Silver Screen Sunday but wasn’t allowed to blog about them until today (them’s the rules!). There are pictures over at the flickr site, also of the Trifle we had for pud. Why didn’t I take a picture of the Hollywood Ham Loaf?! I dunno, but I guess it gives me an excuse to make another – yum yum.
Fascinating meeting with the intellectual property rights expert at the British Library yesterday. All good news which I’ll share with Moya via email, and anyone else who is interested. Full steam ahead basically. Onwards and upwards!
Busy few days ahead, still haven’t braved my attempt at transferring the old hard drive onto the new Mac. Friday I think. Keep your fingers crossed my lovelies!
Blog-checking lines: Renata of Testado, Provado & Aprovado! was our Daring Cooks’ April 2011 hostess. Renata challenged us to think “outside the plate” and create our own edible containers! Prizes are being awarded to the most creative edible container and filling, so vote on your favorite from April 17th to May 16th at http://thedaringkitchen.com!
I remember seeing your cups in the forum and they looked so thin and crispy! Great job! Thanks for participating!
Thanks Renata – I loved those tortilla cups, definitely something I’ll do again. Can’t wait to see what the next challenge is! JX
I always love visiting your site and seeing how you tie the challenge recipe with a Sliver Screen Star’s favourite foods! And I wasn’t disappointed. Those tortilla cups are so cute and dainty and filled with cowboy caviar sound so delicious and they look so beautiful. Superbly execution lovely work.
Thank you so much Audax! I have been inspired by your photography and am trying to take better pictures. I’ve been blaming my very old, very knackered camera but have realised that if I put my food close to the window I get much better pictures! I am DYING to see what this month’s challenge is and have checked about 10 times today to see if it’s been announced! What fun! Jx
