Rhonda Fleming’s Cowboy Caviar

I thought my heart would burst this week when I got a personal email from Rhonda Fleming!  I wrote to ask if she would be happy for me to include her recipe for Hollywood Ham Loaf in the book.  She not only sent me her current favourite recipe (for Cowboy Caviar) but also this photo to go with it.  How utterly wonderful.  I was so excited I wore my cowgirl skirt to work and am still so thrilled about it I keep having to look at the picture!

I tried out the recipe last night as Bette & Joan are visiting from Brighton with beautiful baby Romy.  The caviar was absolutely delicious.  I’d never heard of such a thing but it’s actually a kind of Salsa so we scoffed it with Tortilla Chips and followed it with Ann Sheridan’s Chili Casserole.  A real cowgirl’s supper.  You can see a picture here.

Ms Fleming was the first star I contacted to ask for permission and I am just so chuffed that she took the time not only to respond but also to send me a new recipe and picture.  Great joy at Silver Screen Suppers Towers this week!

  1. That’s so exciting! How nice she is–will you change the recipe you were going to include in the book? I love the photo too!

    1. Yep, it will be Cowboy Caviar for sure! It’s a superb recipe and you can’t beat that picture can you?! It is just gorgeous.
