Greetings kittens!  Did you have a lovely festive season?  It’s still going on around here, as I’m off to Mr R’s this afternoon for our pretend Christmas day.  We went to our respective parentals for the real one.  I cooked the Christmas dinner this year and have to admit, I was rather proud of myself.  My mum helped a lot of course, and it was really nice working together to get everything on the table at the same time.

Oooh yum yum!!

I made Corrinne Griffith’s “Edna’s Christmas Pudding” instead of a trad Christmas pud, and both my mum and my dad loved it, having two helpings each.  I’m going to rework the recipe for this, as I realise the version in my article for Eat Drink Films is a bit sparse on method.  My mum bought some delicious cherry conserve from ALDI that had brandy in it, this gave the pudding some extra oomph and we set fire to it, as is tradition…

Cor!  It was very tasty.

It was a really lovely Christmas with loads of good eating and drinking, and lots of just chilling out with my folks.  There was Victoria Wood on the telebox, and a crochet lesson from my sister on Boxing Day. Fab.

I had one night of breathing space before more feasting begins today, and it would have been sensible to have a night off the booze.  But…  My big new year’s resolution is this.  No drinking solo in the Palace of Solitude.  So as last night was my final night of 2016 on my own, I made myself a little cocktail.  I hear from the interwebs that Tyne’s favourite tipple is a Greyhound, so I made myself one.

Greyhound – 1 part vodka, 3 parts pink grapefruit juice, crushed ice.

I absolutely love Tyne.  She does my favourite Columbo comedy turn, playing a hooker with a heart of gold, Dolores, in Undercover.

Dolores obviously likes a drink, and as she would say herself, raising her glass: “Here’s looking up your whole family!”  Although many things in the world have made me sad this year, I am so happy to have had time with my family and will be spending quality time with Mr R and the Rathbone clan over the next few days.  I am a lucky, lucky woman.
