Woah!  Television!  I have been on a three day writing retreat and as usual when I spend some time at somebody else’s house I get obsessed by television because I don’t have one of my own.  I allowed myself a 2 hour TV break each day.  My programme of choice?  Storage Hunters.  Ohmygawd I love it.  This has to be the best TV programme ever.

When I got back to work I had a big debate with my boss who prefers Storage Wars.  I say no!  I told him though, that if ever my career as a film archivist ends, this is what I want to do for a living. Bid on the rubbish found in lock-ups virtually blind and then try and sell it for a profit.

I love it when the doors go up and they all go WOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHHHHHHHHHHHHH when they see what’s in there.  What would they have made of the junk I had in mine when I lived on the houseboat I wonder?

My lock-up in Slough around 2006

Lori might have said, “what do you think those wooden things are?  Giant knitting needles?” and Brandon could have said “those 1960s psychadelic fold up camping chairs might be worth something…”  I have NO IDEA what happened to those lovely folding chairs, but the knitting needles and probably everything else in there I still have.  Only it is all in my flat, not in a lock-up.

All of this to say that I am worried about my hoarding tendencies and ashamed of the fact that much of the stuff in that lock up was put in there over EIGHT YEARS AGO and many of those boxes and bags remain unpacked in cupboards and behind sofas in my flat.  I am going to take massive action and start getting rid of it all in August.  I mean it.

What has this got to do with the Vincent Price Cucumber Crocodile?  Nothing, but just remembered that I made one for Jessie and Cathy a couple of weeks ago as a “starter” and hadn’t posted about it.  Do you like my blue cocktail onions?

If you like the idea of making a Cucumber Crocodile the recipe is over on my other blog – the Vincentennial Cookblog – I do miss that “one Vincent Price recipe a week” project.  I feel a new one coming on…

Bring me a Cucumber Crocodile and make it snappy!
