Some test cook comments are destined for the final book…but EVERY cook will have a “Thank You” credit in the finished edition and will receive a postcard-sized version of the Angela Lansbury’s Kitchen Sink Salad recipe as illustrated by the fabulous Miriam Figueras. Sent through the royal mail from North London, here in good old England.

Why not get some friends round to watch an episode of the show accompanied by your movie star concoction? You could even all cook together…

All recipes are gleaned from over 8,000 movie star favourites in the Silver Screen Suppers archive. If you know of any Murder, She Wrote related recipes that aren’t included here – please do let me know!

TELL THE WORLD about the cookalong by sending links to this page to your friends and family – the more test cooks, the merrier! Cheerio for now.

Well I’m torn between going with a recipe based purely on it having a rude name (Jane Powell’s Saucy Pigs) or Joe Santos’ One Hot Italian Night because he sounds like a suave felly. Or do I go for Kathryn Grayson’s Baked Alaska as I’ve just eaten one in Austria and it was delicious, or David Soul’s China’s Snowballs because I’ve met him and he was a bit of a dish for an older man.
Could you send me any or all of those please Ms Artichoke. Ta very much. x
Haha! Trust you Cotter! One Hot Italian Night and China’s Snowballs have already been nabbed for the cookalong but I’ll send you all four anyhow for your recipe collection. See which you like best out of the Saucy Pigs and the Baked Alaska for the cookalong.
TELL ME ALL about when you met David Soul!
Cotter! Saucy Pigs have just been taken – I’m putting you down for the Baked Alaska. You are one of the few people I know who could tackle such a thing with aplomb!
I look forward to the challenge!
Send PIX!!!!

Hi! I just stumbled across your site and am so excited – I love Murder She Wrote SO much! I was looking through the list and wondered about a couple of recipes that are featured in episodes of the show that I didn’t see mentioned but think would be kind of perfect – a seafood chowder (featured in Who Threw the Barbitals in Mrs Fletcher’s Chowder), and an apple pie (Seth and Mort are often over at Jessica’s for pie)! So much fun!
Hi Sherrie – thanks for those suggestions, there will be recipes for seafood chowder and apple pie in the book but the book is really focused on recipes are favourites of the movie stars who appeared in the show. I’ll send over the Apple Crisp recipe to you very soon! Thanks for volunteering! Jx
If neither of those are options, and I’m not too late, I’d be happy to make Susan Anton’s Apple Crisp!
Hi there! I just stumbled across this, fashionably late, as always! Is there still time to register?! If so, I’d love to make ‘Kathleen Beller’s Apple Pie with Cheese Crust’. It’s apple season around these parts! Thanks!

Hello hello! I am very interested in test cooking Angela Lansbury’s “Jessica’s Cheesecake” if it is still available! Who doesn’t love cheesecake?
(I tried to request it last night, but I’m unsure if I clicked submit. If I did request and this is a repeat tis better to have requested twice than never at all!)
Oh, and just yesterday I recommended your site to my mother-in-law, who loves classic cooking as much as I do! 🙂
Yay! Hoorah Phoenix! Thank-you so much for the recommendation and thanks a million for volunteering to test the Angela Lansbury Cheesecake recipe. Sending this to you very soon. I LOVE CHEESECAKE TOO – and this is a great cheesecake recipe for sure. Jxx

Found you through the Home Sweet Home Blogathon announcement and just wanted to say I am super excited for your cookbook!

Hello! This is such a fun idea, and it’s fantastic you’re open to testers from all around! I’d be willing to test Hope Lange’s Cheese Ribbon Sandwich and/or Gloria Stuart’s Brownies.
I’m nearly sure I can manage a cheese sandwich recipe…
Haha – thanks VT! Will send these recipes over to you soon so you can have a peruse. This cheese sandwich is no ordinary sandwich – haha!
I look forward to seeing everything whenever you’re able to send them along.
I just hope that me and my small town grocery store will be up to the challenge of an extra-ordinary sandwich!
I cannot wait to see what you manage to score at your small town grocery store for the ribbon sandwich!
I would love to see recipes for the dishes mentioned at the beginning of s05e13 – Fire Burn, Cauldron Bubble.
“Molly’s making brownies, Dora Prouty’s tuna-noodle bake, uh, your seafood-rice dish and Mildred’s pigs-in-blankets.”
I’m most interested in Dora Prouty’s tuna-noodle bake and the seafood-rice dish.
Hi there and thanks for dropping by! Oh how I would love the recipe for Dora Prouty’s tuna-noodle bake too! The recipes I’m including in the Murder, She Cooked book will all (apart from one) be recipes that the actors and actresses supplied to cookbooks and magazines as their favourite things to make. For Fire Burn, Cauldron Bubble the recipe will be Roddy McDowall’s poached pears. Here’s a tiny preview of something I wrote for this episode guide, “We get a hint about one of Jessica’s signature dishes at the beginning of this episode as we hear that she’ll be taking her “Seafood Rice Dish” for the Garden Club’s Casserole Dinner. So if you have a Seafood Rice Dish recipe up your sleeve, why not rustle that up to have before Roddy’s poached pears?” Ooh, just writing this is making me hungry. The one dish that isn’t officially a favourite of one of the stars of the show I’ll be including is an imagining of how Jessica might have made her signature clam chowder x
I can’t wait for the clam chowder recipe. I’ll have to keep looking for the others. I can’t wait for the cookbook to come out!
Aww, thanks! It’ll be a while but it will happen!
Oh my, what is this I see? A blueberry pancake recipe? Me! Me!
I’d also be interested in testing the creole rice recipe!
Hurrah VT! Those two recipes will be winging their way to you very soon! JX
Do you still need someone to test the avocado-sauerkraut recipe? I could give that a try.
Also, would it be possible for you to send me the soup recipe from Frank Lovejoy?
Yay! Brilliant, thanks VT. Will send those recipes over to you very soon xx
I am now waiting for an avocado to ripen on my counter.
And the Frank Lovejoy recipe, my gosh. It is not so delicious, is it?! Not even after I added a bunch of stuff to it!
But it was cheap!
And interesting, in a slightly terrifying way.
Haha, I should have asked you to test the Frank Lovejoy recipe for the Vincent Price book, VT. “Interesting, in a slightly terrifying way.” is the perfect summing up for that recipe! Hope that you enjoy the avocado with sauerkraut – it’s become quite a favourite at my place for a quick and delicious working from home lunch xx
Are you still looking for someone else to test the Greg Morris chicken? I could probably do that!
Oooh, yes please, VT! Fabulous, I’ll send over the recipe and feedback form xx
