I can hardly believe it but today marks five years of blogging about the recipes of the stars. My goodness me how much has changed! When I began I was nursing a broken heart and living on a houseboat using a tabletop cooker that had to be turned on with a pair of pliers! I have lived many places since and had many adventures of a romantic nature many of which have been documented here. I am so glad to have started this record of my cooking exploits, not least as it reminds me that time passes, things massively change but good friends and good food equal good times FOR EVER!
To celebrate 5 years of film star suppers I am running a competition. Two lucky winners and their “plus ones” will be invited to supper at the Palace of Solitude in Muswell Hill. I’m encouraging overseas winners to enter too. They can nominate a UK based chum if they win, or we will conspire together to choose a worthy recipient of the prize.
Winners will be able to select a film or a star around which the menu will be based and there will be a screening in the Silver Screen Suppers Towers home cinema after the meal. For details of how to enter the competition please join my mailing list (just pop your email address in the side bar right at the top under the word NEWSLETTER) – the competition question will be in the next mailout.
PS – I found this wonderful picture of Clara Bow over at Mothic Flights and Flutterings – what a lovely collection of pictures…. HOWEVER, it seems that the photo is Sue Carol and not Clara Bow. Well I never!
I have to enter this one as I will be home for Screen. Also, find many more beautiful pictures of Clara Bow at clarabowarchive.tumblr.com. It is rumoured that Hooplah willl be coming out on DVD soon now that it’s been restored.
And most of all, Congratulations on 5 years of blogging, eating, celebrating, romancing and all those other wonderful things that make you so special and such a good friend.
Aw thanks gorgeous! What a lovely message. I love the Clara Bow Archive tumblr collection. Just brilliant. Good luck with the competition ducky face and keep your eyes peeled for tins of Shoepeg Corn – my latest unavailable recipe ingredient! Jx
I will–I’ve never heard of it and just looked it up in wikipedia–it’s an old southern ingredient and is evidently sweeter than regular corn. Only one company produces a canned version and I am pretty certain it isn’t available in the North East US. So I will ask my southern friends if they can pick some up next time they are home.
Hope to see you next month or early July. As soon as I have my tickets, I’ll let you know when I’ll be home.
Fab-o baby! It’s for Rhonda Fleming’s Cowboy Caviar and I’d love to try it just once with the Shoepeg! Really looking forward to seeing you and will be better organised this time about getting the gang together for a night out xx
