Recipe of the Month – Gracie Fields’ Potted Shrimps

As Britain is so very, very British at the moment at this time of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee I thought we should have a very British dish as the recipe of the month.  How more British can you get than Gracie and Potted Shrimps?

I found this scanned  cook book on the internet a few years ago but I’ve never seen a copy of it for sale until today. I found one at www.abebooks.com – for £8.  So I snapped it up and am excited about having the actual item.  Particularly as I’ll be able to see this picture in its full glory…

You can see a few pages from the booklet here – World’s Worst Food – I am slightly offended on Gracie’s behalf that her recipes are considered to be bad.  OK there IS a Tripe and Onions recipe but her Lancashire Hot Pot recipe rocks and her Toad in the Hole ditto.  I can’t wait to see what other recipes await as I suspect the scanned pages are just the tip of the iceberg…

So if you want to try Gracie’s Potted Shrimps hop over to the Recipe of the Month page.  I would love to see pics if you make some…
