Irene Dunne’s Shrimps and Rice

It’s a shame that the top of Irene’s head has been chopped off by my computer, her hairdo is ace.  If I had the guts,  I’d have mine cut like this so I could rock Irene’s look at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival next weekend.  I’ve just been out and about in Camden and spotted the perfect pair of shoes.  I can’t afford them of course but I am sorely tempted…  I don’t really have the appropriate summer footwear to complete the vintage look, will flipflops do I wonder?  Or should I just splash the cash and get them?  I’ve got two weddings coming up too,  so cost per wear could be minimised…

Irene’s recipe made a HUMUNGOUS amount of food.  I reckon it would serve about 12 people with a salad on the side.  By the time it had come out of the oven I’d eaten almost a whole bag of Doritos so I only managed a tiny bit.  So I now I am left with 11 portions of Shrimps and Rice knocking around my fridge and freezer.  I have spooked myself somewhat by looking up food hygiene warnings about reheating rice.  Some say you can, some say you will almost certainly get food poisoning.  Who knows?  I’ll report back…

  1. Cost per wear is always the way to go. Mind you, I’ve been shopping insanely in the sales so I shouldn’t be the one you listen to. But you do need some vintage shoes given your lifestyle and all the DJ-ing you do. Please post a picture of your outfit whatever you end up doing.

My Korean friends reheat rice (and they know about rice) so you should be OK. And there are some dishes, like jumbalaya, that get better when they are reheated and that’s basically all rice. Mind you, I’d be wary of the shrimp part. Eat it sooner rather than later, whatever you do.
