If I were a more organised person I would ALWAYS have a batch of Janet’s cookie dough lying resplendent in my freezer for when unexpected guests pop round for a cup of tea. The thing I love about this recipe is that you make it a day before you need it, pop it in your ice box and slice and bake it next day – or whenever you fancy some cookies.
Here is the latest batch, lying dormant in the freezer.
And here are some I made earlier:
The recipe is here if you are looking in September 2013 – changes every month!
Wow these are SO similar to my great-grandma’s ice-box cookies. I stayed with her all the time as a little kid and we baked something almost every day. She usually replaced the walnuts with pecans from her own trees. She still picks and shells some pecans for me every year as part of my Christmas present.
I really enjoy Janet Gaynor movies. I think Sunrise, Sunny Side Up, and The Young in Heart (and, of course, A Star is Born) are my favorites so far.
Ah that is so lovely! Pecans! From trees! I don’t think we have pecan trees over here, but my folks have a walnut tree in their garden so I often get a nice little bag of these when I go and visit.
I haven’t seen many Janet Gaynor movies but I do love Sunrise. She is so cute!
