Vincent Price’s Steak au Poivre

Do you ever order groceries online?  Do you ever put loads of delicious looking things in your shopping basket, then have a rethink and think, “I am but one human being, living alone, I must be sensible”? and take lots of them out? Have you ever then totally forgotten to check out properly and had it all delivered anyhow?

This is exactly how I ended up with a very large and very expensive lump of steak in my fridge.  As I happened to be writing about the Vincent Price Steak au Poivre recipe for the Suppers with the Stars book that week

it HAD TO BE DONE.

As you might expect for a steak that cost me £12, this was utterly delicious with some M&S oven chips and some salad (for health!) on the side.  Yum.

Treat yourself!  I just roughly divided everything by 4.

  1. Oh my mouth’s watering just reading that. But I think I’d just drink the wine and brandy and just pour what fat and bits are left in the pan straight on to the steak and maybe combine green&black pepper in the pestle and poss a swirl of garlic butter on to it ! I want that for breakfast now !!
